Taking a break + a few tidbits of housecleaning.

Hey everyone,

With all of the important work going on within the Black Lives Matter movement, we’re going to put this mostly on pause for a bit. That means redirecting our energy towards direct action, showing up when it counts, but also listening and learning.

Today we’re just going to go through three quick things in case you missed ‘em.

  • Congressman Steve King, a white nationalist, lost his primary last night. The Republican who beat him, Randy Feenstra, is still an awful person. Unfortunately, he’s also the favorite in that race in Iowa, so keep an eye on his challenger, J.D. Scholten.

  • According to investigative reporting by Ken Klippenstein for The Nation, the FBI found “no intel indicating antifa involvement” in Sunday’s violence. This runs contrary to Trump’s justification for trying to designate anti-fascists as a terrorist organization.

  • Buzzfeed News broke the story that the Justice Department has given the DEA the temporary power to “enforce any federal crime committed as a result of the protests over the death of George Floyd.” Surveillance methods have long been used to stop protestors and this seems like the first big move to do authorize that.

Thanks for sticking with us. Check out this list of ways to help for more info about what you can do. Stay safe out there.
